Welcome Fall

What does "Fall" mean to me and why? I love when summer is winding down, heat is slowly going away and cool evenings approach. Watching the changing leaves from greens to browns and then slowly off the tree they come. I enjoy taking pictures of my children at a local park that has beautiful bridges, rivers and play structures. I will be doing that next weekend :) Then there is apple picking and pumkin picking. Last year we never made it to the apple orchard but this year I'm going to make it there - great picture taking!

This fall our family will be welcoming in our first Great niece or nephew. This will be a fun holiday season. Should be interesting at my house this fall with four children. I love Thanksgiving, cooking would be my favorite part. I always invite our friends/family that doesn't have family around (like me) and we have our own "family dinner" together. This Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Friday because DH doesn't have Thursday off. I'm super excited this Christmas season, DH has two weeks off! and right after Christmas we are heading to Michigan to celebrate New Years with my family. HAPPY FALL!

International Scarf Exchange

I'm so excited I made the sign ups for the International Scarf Exchange! WOOHOO. Now I have to finish up my Felted Bag, and get that exchange done, and then start reading on what type of scarf my new ISE Secret Pal will like.

Bag in Progress Felted Bag Exchange

I have been working on my felted bag exchange bag off and on for about 2 weeks now, remember I'm not a fast knitter by any means. I love the NORO I have picked for her bag. I just hope she does too. I'm hoping to get some major knitting done this week and have it ready to send out by the deadline. Here is a picture of me knitting the bag during the CHICAGO BEARS football game today :)

Go BEARS. Oh quick note, my DH was at the game today :)

Other blogs I visit on the Felted Bag Exchange, this one was hard because i try and look at 3-4 everyday to see if I can find who my felted partner is. I do like AlanaR. blog this time searching and JoanneP. Great readings ladies.

10 Year Remembrance

On September 15, 1997 my world as I knew it would change forever. This was the day my father passed, my father died of a stroke. My dad was 54 years old and just retired from Ameritech after 25+ years, had 6 wonderful grandchildren, 3 daughters and my mom :)

I remember my dad going to all my sports activities, maybe this is why I'm so active in my childrens sports activities because I can remember how good it made me feel to see him standing, sitting and talking about the event. I will never forget the "hit it over the fence and I'll take you anywhere you want for dinner" BOOM! over the fence, Steak and Ale, that ball only cost my dad $50+ bucks, after that it was Taco Bell. LOL

One of my best memories of my dad is when my mother would go play cards with her girlfriends, she would do this about once a month. My dad would ask me "what are you doing tonight?" I would immediately say "Steak and Ale!" This was one of my dad's favorite restraurants. I would cancel my plans with my friends to "hang out" with my dad and YES it was always on a Friday/Saturday night and YES I was in high school at the time but it was awesome to hang out with him, eat dinner, and then of course we sometimes would go shopping at the mall and sometimes he would buy me things - ok everytime :)

Its funny how things can change on a dime. I look back and sometimes it feels like yesterday and other times it feels like forever, a lifetime ago. I look back on that afternoon when I was on the phone with my sister, my other sister was beeping in and my mom's voice in the background.

On my wedding day my dad and I danced to a song that reminds me of him everytime I hear it.

"Wind Beneath My Wings"
Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow, to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.You always walked a step behind.
So I was the one with all the glory, while you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.A beautiful smile to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my hero, and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.
It might have appeared to go unnoticed, but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it. I would be nothing without you.
Did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.
Did I ever tell you you're my hero? You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

I love you Dad and miss you everyday. You will never be forgotten . . .

Party of 2007

DH and I hosted our first "annual" backyard BBQ! It was awesome. We had about 50 people attend off and on throughout the night. Weather was outstanding it reached mid 80's and slightly warm then in the evening it cooled off and was lovely. Some drove from Indiana, Missouri and of course around here. Everyone had such a great time!

DH and I have decided that we will be having an annual September Backyard BBQ every year. DH smoked some awesome chicken and ribs, I cooked some potatoe salad and banana split cake . . . everyone brought a dish to pass and OMG we had a ton of food.

Thanks everyone for coming and see you next year!
