Upcoming events for ME :)

I'm finishing up some hand dyed hand painted yarn to post on my website www.extremeyarn.etsy.com they should be up by later today. I'm doing laundry . . . I have to pack up the kids for 3 days this week while me and the hubby are in Springfield at CADC training. I'm so excited, I have all my HOURS and EDUCATIONAL hours I need for the application, now all I have to do is sit for the exam. I'm going to take the exam in September and hopefully pass! and be certified by October/November. This weekend has sucked, I have a horrible head cold and it sucks. Feels like my head is going to explode.

What a STUD MUFFIN. This is my nephew Charlie and he is graduating June 2, 2006 and YES I will be there to take a ton of pictures of him. I'm so proud of him . . . I know high school can be a struggle but he made it. The kids and I will be heading up on Thursday, June 1st to Michigan for the long weekend.

Well I think this is it for now, I'm going to continue winding yarn and maybe have a cup of hot tea. Till later . . . Knit On . . .

Official Strike Notice Given

OK let the games begin, after months of negotiating, we handed our employer a 15 day strike notice. HORRAY! Maybe we can get something done now. My employer was shocked, I have never seen such incompetent people like my employer. They treat their employees like crap. Enough is enough. Seniority, Step raise, close shop, pension are just some things we won't give on. MERIT sucks - SKILL and ABILITY . . . To kiss ass and 99% of us aren't BNAK's (brown noise'n ass kissers).

Monday . . . just another manic Monday

I heard from my secret pal today :) I'm so excited to start this one. Today was an okay day, at least we were off lockdown today and I didn't have to serve food for 900 inmates - just treatment today. I'm completing my application to test for my CADC. I sure hope I pass my first time so I'm not spending my life savings on my certification - I'm sure I will do fine. Sock is coming along . . . slowly . . . I did get my PayPal debt card today, I'm pretty excited about this so I can just order stuff from my earnings. Well chat with you all later :)

Sock attempt

I'm so excited, I started making my first sock!!! I began watching my "sock dvd" and am taking each step one at a time. I'm using 2 circular needles and its going good. I'm using my very own handdyed yarn. I LOVE IT. You can visit all of my yarn at www.extremeyarn.etsy.com

Shawl Coming Along

My first shawl is coming along . . . slowly. I think its cause I have no pattern to do anything fancy. I plan on using some of my hand dyed lace yarn and actually create a shawl that is lacey and elegant. I'm about 1/2 way done on this shawl and I'm hoping to get it finished up here soon. I'm going to make fringes along the sides down to the tip. It will be pretty :)

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I enjoy working with wool. I haven't found a yarn I don't like yet.

Socks In

I ordered the DVD Sock 1, How to knit socks on two circular needles. I'm so excited. I wanted to learn how and have been putting it off. I order 2 circular needles and am ready to get started. I'm sure I will watch the DVD tomorrow night and give it a try. I hope its easy. I'm not sure which yarn I'm going to use. I think I may dye some self stripping for my first time. Swift and Winder

Swift and Winder . . . what a pair. I love my swifter and ball winder. I can't believe I went without for soooooo long. What a great investment and time saver. To think I used to skein yarn by hand with a board that had 2 nails in it and then wind into a ball that would then run all over the floor when I was trying to knit. What was I thinking???

Opening Day

I have decided to change from Yahoo blog to Blogger. I had a problem with people leaving me postings with Yahoo. Let me introduce myself, My name is Pennie, I'm a mother of 2. I have been married for 12 years. I'm a drug and alcohol counselor at a medium security prison. I enjoy my job . . . and no I'm not crazy. I have been knitting for the past year and a half. I love to knit purses, scarfs, poncho, and am starting shawls. I just ordered a DVD on how to knit sock on circular needles. I'm excited about starting this venture in knitting.
